This is the start of an image for one of the briefs set by Simon Scales in his introductory digital painting class done through CDW Studios. The theme is fantasy Europe, with a castle and waterfalls being part of the brief.

This is a sketch I am currently working on for fun around my other work - really enjoying the opportunity to play with colour and experiment a bit

Intro to Digital Environment Painting

Last night marked the start of the Simon Scales course on digital painting run through his new school.
It was great to go back to basics and be limited to a single hard round Photoshop brush for use in grey-scale thumbnail studies - shockingly this made the blocking in process a lot easier and faster. I am looking forward to developing some more environment studies and creating more thumbnails to a brief in the coming weeks, but for now I will simply post the thumbnails I did last night during the demonstration.
